Few hobbyists are as dedicated and passionate as model railroaders. They spend hour upon painstaking hour investing in the quality of their trains, all while keeping an eye on top-notch quality—much like how GE approaches its own, “real world” locomotives.
That’s why the folks at GE Transportation were so thrilled when Lionel, the world’s largest manufacturer of O-gauge model trains, recently decided to add a model of GE’s Evolution Hybrid to its VISION Line Green Fleet.
The Evolution Hybrid, a product of GE’s Ecomagination initiative, is the second diesel locomotive featured in the VISION Line and is the only model GE locomotive currently available from Lionel. The attentively-detailed, die-cast metal model takes care to include many of the unique features found on the actual Evolution Hybrid, replicating everything from the signature green-and-blue paint job, to the visible batteries on the side of the locomotive, to a “sleep mode” that mimics the actual energy-saving habits of the real world Hybrid’s engines.
To top if all off, Lionel embraced the Ecomagination spirit by packaging the model GE Evolution Hybrid with environmentally friendly materials. So when model railroaders are unwrapping their presents this holiday season, chances are they will be catching a glimpse of the future of locomotives.
